Very helpful for learning about my personality as a burden bearer and how to take that before God. Carol walks through her story to help us understand our own a bit better.
Not a casual read, much to absorb, but very worthwhile and helpful.
I wish I had read this sooner! Do you ever read a book and you wonder HOW an author can so accurately describe exactly what you're going through? This book offers practical advice and a solid, scriptural way of using empathy as the GIFT it is and not as a burden.
This book is a must-read for anyone who finds him/herself deeply affected by the emotions and mental states of other people, who is exhausted by crowds or too much personal interaction, or who is pulled apart by emotions they have no reason to feel. It gives practical help for rising above a state of just surviving to celebrate with confidence the special gift of sensitivity, and for using it wisely and effectively as intended in this world. Carol Brown's first book "The Mystery of Spiritual Sensitivity" gives a deeper theological and theoretical background and I recommend it as well. The two books can be read in any order and complement each other. They changed my perspective on my entire life.
Eh...I feel like I'm highly sensitive, but I felt there was a lot of sensationalism, or almost "mystical" thinking. I'm not sure if those are the correct words to use, but I didn't feel comfortable as a Christian woman taking it totally as truth.
I am gaining a greater understanding in the things I've experienced. Great teaching and guidance in being a n intercessor and burden bearer. I like how Carol explains by examples as she teaches, which is great for me.
